Does it really take 10 hours or 30 hours?

Yes! The government mandates the time each individual participant must spend in training. If a worker tries to complete a course by moving through the material as quickly as possible, they will actually have to consume more safety content than if moving at the intended pace, because material will be added until the 10 or 30 hour training time requirement is met.

Additionally, you cannot take all 10 or 30 hours at once! OSHA 10 hour training must take at least 2 days to complete. OSHA 30 hour training takes 4 days to complete whether your training is online or with an authorized trainer in a live instructional setting.
